A Doula recognizes that women have the power to birth and assists the mother in accessing her own “Mother Nature” throughout the childbearing year. A doula also provides emotional support, physical comfort measures, an objective viewpoint and assistance in getting the information she needs to make empowered decisions throughout her pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

WHY SHOULD YOU HIRE A DOULA?

Having a Doula helps make childbirth a positive experience.  When birthing your baby is a positive experience it increases feelings of empowerment, both as a woman and as a mother.  It also affects your relationship with your child and partner in a positive manner, as well.  Hiring a Doula helps you and your family through this amazing transition by providing unconditional support.

An Angel Doula will provide you with all of the tools you’ll need to allow you to make the most informed choices with regard to your pregnancy, delivery and infant feeding.  A common misconception about Doulas is that they discourage the use of pain medication in labor.

TYPES OF DOULAS

BIRTH DOULA

Our services are customized to the needs of the birthing mom and her support team. Emotional Support is often defined by helping create a birth plan that includes a woman’s unique communication style and gives her confidence in voicing her needs. Physical comfort measures can include: massage, labor positions, hydrotherapy, optimal fetal positioning, aromatherapy, acupressure, deep relaxation and visualization techniques. Advocacy includes helping a woman to resource the community of birth services and facilitating her birth plan into action.

POSTPARTUM DOULA

When a child is born, a family is born. The doula's role is to help the family to find a harmonious new sense of normal with baby. Nurturing mama with physical and emotional comfort measures, while assisting her with discovering her babies cues, breastfeeding, light house-keeping and help around the house. Overnight support, support of families with multiples, and sibling care are also available.
